The Lowry High School girls soccer team hosted a pair of conference matches last Friday and Saturday.

Sparks scored two goals in the first half, while Lowry put up its two goals in the second half to secure the 2-2 tie.

Lowry senior Danielle Terou and sophomore Lesley Martinez scored in the contest.

Saturday saw the Lady Bucks held scoreless until the end of the game when Macy Munroe snuck in a penalty time goal to put Lowry on the board in a 6-1 loss to the Lady Panthers.

Lowry goalie Hannah Growcock had 21 saves in the game, but North Valleys scored nine minutes into the match and was up 4-0 by the half.

Two more goals in the second period for North Valleys put them up 6-0 until Munroe’s last second goal.

“My season is going good; I have seen a lot of progress since my freshman year on my defensive skills and the way I play," said senior Lowry player Celest Castellanos. "I don’t care if we don’t make it to zone; I just want to enjoy my last couple of games because that will be my last time ever playing soccer.”

The Lady Bucks wore pink jerseys on Saturday and decked out the field and stands in pink to help raise money for breast cancer research.

“We are taking donations for Cassandra “Monkey” Upton, she has breast cancer," said Lowry student volunteer Araceli Contreras said at the game. "Donations are going really good, people are donating a lot of money.”

Lowry sits at 2-8-1 in conference play after the weekend and 2-10-1 overall.

They travelled to Churchill County (Fallon) on Tuesday. Results of the contest were not available at press time.

The Lady Bucks' road games continue on Friday at 6 p.m. in North Tahoe and noon on Saturday in Truckee.
