The Lowry High School football team travelled to Dayton last Friday night to try and improve its conference record and continue on their trek to make the playoffs.
The Bucks delivered a 53-6 drubbing to improve to 4-3 in league play and 5-3 overall.
Lowry is currently tied for fifth place in the Northern 3A division. The top six teams make the playoffs; the Buckaroos are guaranteed a spot due to tiebreakers with the other teams in the hunt.
Lowry has not been to the playoffs since 2014,
“I thought the game went as planned," said LHS coach Taua Cabatbat. "Our kids came out and executed from the start. All fazes of the game we played hard and they executed the game plan as we had practiced all week. The kids are excited about moving forward and they are starting to show confidence in what they are doing and what we are expecting them to do week in and week out.”
Quarterback Brendan Domire ran for two touchdowns in the contest, while Preston Snow, Cole Jones, and Jace Mentaberry all garnered one touchdown.
Jones ripped off 114 rushing yards and Mentaberry totaled 151 multi-purpose yards in the contest.
Lowry plays its regular season home finale on Friday against rival Elko at 7 p.m.
Elko comes into the contest 5-2 in the Northern 3A but has lost two games in a row.
“Elko is another huge test that we are excited about and I know from our seniors on down they want to put on a good show and continue building on the success that they are having thus far,” Cabatbat said.
The Buckaroos end their regular season at Churchill County (Fallon) on Oct 19 at 7 p.m.
The Greenwave sit atop the Northern 3A at 7-0.
