David Robin Mason went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with great joy in his heart on September 20, 2018 at the Battle Mountain General Hospital. He was 79 years old.
He was born to Lynn Rollin Mason and Muriel Graham Mason in San Jose, CA on January 1, 1939 – at 1:04 am. He was the first baby of the New Year in San Jose!
He was raised in the Masonic Home at Covina, CA from 5 years old through 8th grade graduation. Then he joined his mother and step-father, Hank Everson, for high school.
He graduated from high school in Lake Oswego, OR and joined the USAF in 1957. He served with the 538th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Larson AFB in WA. He completed his enlistment in 1961 as an Airman First Class with a Good Conduct Medal. He often said it was his honor to serve his country and its people.
He entered college at Portland State and began a building maintenance service company which grew into 4 locations. In 1968 he sold his businesses and went into real estate in California.
His next venture was real estate finance which eventually brought him to work as the Northern Nevada Finance Representative for American Federal Bank traveling weekly from Reno to Wells. In 1996 he married Dorothy and they made their home in Battle Mountain.
He has been actively involved in his local church family and community ever since. He continued to do Home Mortgages in his own home office until 2001. Dave was a member of the Lander County Board of Equalization for over 10 years. He was elected a Lander County Commissioner serving his community for 4 years. Most recently he was elected as a Trustee for the Battle Mountain General Hospital. He enjoyed serving in this capacity until his death.
Dave’s integrity and love for his Lord Jesus were at the core of his being. He loved his family and church.
He said he “found this ‘Breath of Life’ very precious; exciting; full of fun and laughter; and exciting even after 79 years”.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, his brother Ron Mason, his son-in-law Gary Reiva and his precious daughter Michele Mason Franklin.
