Dorothy Lavonne Fiske was born on August 28, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was born to Joseph Carl Mueller and Zoe Marjorie Mueller. Dorothy died on November 27, 2018 at the age of 75, in her home, in Winnemucca, Nevada of lung cancer.
Dorothy was married to Rodney C. LaRue from 1964-1971. She then married Andrew F. Fiske on December 29, 1973, they were for 45 years.
During her life, Dorothy lived in many places including: Fargo, North Dakota, Dunsmuir, California, Yuba City, California, Marysville, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada. She moved to Winnemucca, Nevada in 1994 and remained here for the rest of her life.
She attended Hair Dressing School, was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and served in Law Enforcement. She worked at various hair salons; she was a matron for the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department; and she gave 15 years of service as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Fremont Hospital in Yuba City, California.
Dorothy attended the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Marysville, California and the United Methodist Church in Winnemucca, Nevada. She belonged to the Humboldt General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary; she served as President and Secretary for the local Sorority Sisters.
She had a great love for cats, sewing and reading books. She also loved the PBS channel. She was very interested in her family history and genealogy. She also played the piano and the guitar.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Zoe Mueller and her father, Joseph Mueller and 3 still born siblings and one still born child.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Andrew French Fiske, her six children, Wade LaRue, Brett (Katherine) Corletto, Julia Fiske, Alice (Christopher) Walls, Michael (Stephanie) LaRue, Herhert (Deborah) Fiske, her 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Helen Beeter and Patti Jo Mueller and her in-laws, Brooks (Tonia) Fiske, Preston (Livy) Fiske, and Betty Mueller.
Her family would like to thank the Hospice nurse, Thea, who took great care of their mother and family. “We thank her dearly”.
