Lady Bucks secure two spots on all-league volleyball team

Lowry High School junior Sierra Maestrejuan was selected to the  Northern 3A all-leage, second team as a middle blocker for the 2018 volleyball season. 

Lowry finished the year 5-13 in league play this year and 8-16 overall. Maestrejuan led the team with 13 digs per match in 2018. 

Truckee’s Kelly Cross was named the League MVP and Patty Daum from Churchill County (Fallon) took the Coach of the Year honors.

The Greenwave finished with a 7-11 league record and 7-19 overall, missing out on the playoffs. 

The Northern 3A first-team was comprised of Elko’s Cassie Spence and Elena Howe, Sofia Hedqvist and Hailey Naccarato from South Tahoe, Kaitlyn Garnett from Fernley, Truckee’s Ryleigh Hogland, and Brianda Diaz from Dayton. 

Joining Maestrejuan on the second team were Truckee’s Joy Galles and Kaley Settle, Jerra McLaughlin from North Lake Tahoe, Fallon’s Taylor Ingram, Alexis Elquist from Elko, North Valleys’ Autumn Wilson, Katelyn Bunyard from Fernley, Spring Creek’s Alayna Grosz, and Tamia Powell from Dayton. 

Honorable mention status went to Lowry’s Andrea Escobedo.

Escobedo was Lowry's setter this year.

 Joining Ecobedo were Truckee’s Morgan Just, Quinn Kirschner, and Tyler Pevenage, Shelbi Schultz, Karlee Hitchcock, and Journey Martin from Churchill County (Fallon),Elko’s Tara Welch and Kaitlyn Rizo, Fernley’s Natalie Stewart and Jaiden Sullivan, and Layne Hembree from South Tahoe. Sparks’ Akosita Taufa’ao, Dayton’s Marissa Hein, and Nicole Southern from Spring Creek rounded out the honorable mention team.
