It is with great sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of Steve P. Garteiz on November 11, 2018 in Chico, California.\
Papa was a very loving, caring, compassionate, husband, father, grandparent and great-grandparent. Papa will be greatly missed by many.
Steve was born in Winnemucca April 15, 1931 to Charlie and Micaela Garteiz.
He was one of eleven children including Annis (1910), Charley (1912), Toni (1913), Mary (1915), Tina (1917), Thomas (1919), Clara (1921), Frank (1923), Bernice (1925), Teddy (1927).
Steve served in the Korean War. He had a very successful career starting with Western Pacific Railroad and ending with Union Pacific Railroad, with 34 years of service until 1990.
Steve is survived by his wife Betty of 36 years who lives in Chico California. Papa had two sons Steve David Garteiz and Martin Allen Garteiz (son Jake). Steve had three step sons Ken Glaziner(Janet), Kurt Glaziner and Kyle Glaziner(Melanie). Steve has five step grandchildren, one grandchild and one step great-grandchild, Niece Suzanne Wade(Rodger) of Winnemucca and Nephew Eddie Mason(Fran) of Nampa Idaho. No service are planned at this time.
