Obituary: Val W. Brinkerhoff

Lovelock, Nevada - Val W Brinkerhoff, 78, peacefully passed away after a prolonged illness on 11/16/2018 at Pershing General Hospital in Lovelock, Nevada. He was born on 2/5/1940 in Winnemucca, the son of Walter and Viola (Johnson) Brinkerhoff.

Val graduated from Pershing County High School, class of 1958. Following graduation, he attended the University of Nevada-Reno for two years and then was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. 

Once he completed his service, he came back to Lovelock and went to work on the family farm. He married Karen Marie Zimmerman and settled in Lovelock on the farm.

 They would have celebrated 46 years of marriage this December. Val was a loyal member of the Lions Club for 40+ years and a card-carrying member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Viola Brinkerhoff. He is survived by his wife, Karen (Zimmerman) Brinkerhoff; his children, Robert Brinkerhoff, Pamela Brinkerhoff and Cynthia (Brinkerhoff) Coble; and his grandchildren, Caitlyn (19), Alexander (11), Lillian (9); one brother, Allen Brinkerhoff, one sister, Devoy Munk and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:30am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 220 Maple Drive, Lovelock, Nevada 89419. 

Internment will be held immediately following the service. The family has requested that the internment be family only. Reception will be held immediately following the services at the church.
