Lowry and McDermitt start winter sports seasons

Winter is here and it is time to play some basketball and wrestle. 

Lowry High School will field a varsity wrestling squad of 29 comprised of freshmen through  seniors.

 Lowry first tournament of the year will be Nov. 30-Dec. 1 at Churchill County High School, before returning to the Winnemucca Events Complex on Dec. 6- 8.

The Lowry High School boys basketball team hosts Reed on Friday afternoon.

The Buckaroos freshmen tip off at 11 a.m., followed by the JV at 12:30 and varsity at 2 p.m.

Lowry will hit the road on Saturday to play Reno. The freshmen play at noon, JV at 1:30 p.m. and the varsity at 3 p.m.

The LHS girls varsity basketball team will head to Reno for the Winter Challenge to open the year on Thurs. Nov. 29 – Dec. 1.

The Lady Bucks are scheduled to play Spanish Springs on Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m., McQueen on Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. and Reno on Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. 

The freshman and JV teams will play the same dates in Spanish Springs.

The Lowry freshmen will play Churchill County on Nov. 29 at 3 p.m.; Spanish Springs on Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. and Spring Creek on Dec. 1 at 10 a.m.

The Lowry JV will play the same teams but at different times. Game times are 4:30 p.m. for Churchill County, 7:30 p.m. for Spanish Springs and 11:30 for Spring Creek.  

 McDermitt High School basketball is underway on the year as well. 

The MHS varsity boys team will start the year on Nov. 29– Dec. 1 at the Winter Invitational Tournament in Sparks. 

The JV boys squad’s first game will be Jan. 11 in Wells at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Bulldog varsity team travels to Wells for their initial games on Nov. 29–Dec. 1.

It will feature each teams roster, schedule, articles and pictures of all five teams.
