Obituary: Jeanette Itza

Jeanette Itza, 83, of Battle Mountain, Nevada, passed away surrounded by her family on November 1, 2018.

Jeanette was born in Jet, Oklahoma on July 16, 1935, to Ruth (Blackledge) and Richard (Dick) Fletcher and was the oldest of three daughters.

The Fletcher family moved for work, which eventually brought them to Winnemucca, Nevada, where Jeanette attended high school.

There she met and married (55 years) the love of her life, Marion Itza, with whom she had 5 children.  The family moved to Battle Mountain in 1972 where they purchased the Commercial Hotel, renaming it Itza’s Bar.

Jeanette worked at the Owl Club and Nevada Hotel as a 21 dealer until she went to work in Security at Duval/Battle Mountain Gold.  Jeanette had many hobbies, including biking with her beloved dog, Puddles, gardening, playing the organ, singing and quilting, which brought her endless joy.

Her biggest joy was her family, who she loved with all her heart.  Her grandchildren loved her homemade ice cream and soup.

They sparked her passion for sewing and quilting as every project was made with love for someone.  For years Jeanette sewed dance costumes for the Oberenak Basque Club and loved watching her grandchildren perform traditional Basque dances.

She loved to play the organ with her family singing along at holidays.  Jeanette will be remembered as a bright, creative, graceful and strong woman who always had a smile and a song in her heart.

Jeanette is proceeded in death by her beloved husband Marion, parents Ruth and Dick Fletcher, two sons Dickie and Damon Itza.  Jeanette is survived by her children Mary Ann (Phil) Gray, Danny (Alison) Itza, and David (Kris) Itza; grandchildren Stephanie Itza, Sofia (Paul) Painter, Richard (Ashley) and Brigitte Bacarella, Sotero, Kayci and Daniel Itza, Felycia and Jillian Itza, Natalie Todd and Justin Gray; great granddaughter Elcee Bacarella, and her sisters Linda Geringer and Judy (Bill) Bundrock, along with numerous nieces and nephews.  She is deeply loved and will be missed by all.

Services will be held at a later time.
