The Winnemucca Junior High School basketball teams traveled to participate in a couple of tournaments last weekend.
On Friday, Nov. 2, the Warriors took on teams in Carson and Saturday, Nov. 3, they went to Fernley.
“They were close games and it was a fun weekend," said WJHS seventh-grade coach Sean Millikan.
"Marcus (Montes) led our team with 16 points in the first game and 17 points in the second.”
The eighth-grade team dropped a game to Carson, but won the rest of their contests to sit at 8-1 for the season.
“Our record right now is 2-4,” Millikan said. “We lost by 10 points, and then we lost by three points; but then we won by three points. We have a lot of work to do.”
WJHS traveled to Pyramid Lake on Friday. Results were not available at press time. Elko hosts the Warriors today (Saturday) starting at 9 a.m.
