Eastman steps downs as Lowry volleyball coach

After three years as the Lowry High School varsity volleyball coach, Brandon Eastman has stepped down to pursue other opportunities.

“It was a difficult decision,” Eastman said. “I have known for a long time that I wanted to eventually go and get my Masters Degree, so I am planning to leave Winnemucca next fall and do that. It just seems like the right time, like I was ready to leave and go see what else is out there. It isn’t that I didn’t like coaching anymore; I have professional and educational goals that I want to pursue.”

Eastman graduated from Lowry High School in 2012. He coached the JV volleyball team for one year before taking over the varsity squad in 2016.

“The best part of my time at Lowry was getting to work with the student athletes on a daily basis," Eastman said.

Lowry reached the playoffs in Eastman's first year in 2016.

The Lady Bucks took the next step in 2017 and beat Truckee to win the Northern 3A Regional Championship.

Lowry reached the state tournament that year for the first time since 2007.

"We have some amazing young women and I enjoyed every minute of coaching them and getting to know them; not only as volleyball players, but as people," Eastman said. "I am going to miss the girls. I am also going to miss the support that our program receives from the high school administration and our community.”

Eastman has applied to Boise State and the University of Iowa. He will be looking to get his degree in Sports Management.

“There is no better place to coach in Nevada than Lowry High School,” Eastman concluded. “It is a special thing to be a part of and I am going to miss it, but I am excited for what is going to come next in my future.”
