Lowry soccer ends on a good note

The Lowry High School girls soccer squad finished its season last Friday by delivering a 2-1 loss to Elko on their home field.

The Indians and Bucks each had a goal in the first half, but Lowry notched another one in the second for the win.

“We made one simple mistake that cost us a goal, but the girls came back, and we had it tied up at 1-1 in the first half,” Lowry coach Ed Partee said about the match against Elko. “It wasn’t until the end of the game that we made that other goal. It was exciting when we did; it was a perfect set-up. My girls played hard defense and offense in that game. We had limited substitutions; luckily I was able to pull some girls up from JV to get us through.”

The Lady Bucks lost in Spring Creek on Thursday 3-1. Spring Creek and Lowry both scored one goal in the first half, only to have the Spartans add a pair of goals in the second half for the victory over the Buckaroos.

The team’s final record was 3-14-1 for the season.

“We were plagued by injuries this year and we had to pull up some JV girls to cover our tails for awhile," Partee said.. "Towards the end of the season we were relying heavily on that JV team. We lose seven seniors this year, so we will be relying on them next year also. This was kind of a building-year for us, hopefully next year we won’t have so many injuries.”
