Obituary: Bette Diane Hatch-Clarno

On May 18, 2018, we lost our mother, friend, grandmother, great grandmother, favorite bartender and most of all, Charlie’s sweetheart while recovering from a brain aneurism.

Bette Diane Hatch-Clarno was born in Carey, Idaho, on April 7, 1935, to Elizabeth and Thomas Powers.  They moved to Hailey, Idaho, where Bette and her two brothers were raised.  She met and married Max Hatch after high school.  They moved to Ely, Nevada and began their married life.  In 1959, they moved to Winnemucca and raised their five children. Years later Bette owned and operated the Reckon Bar, which became a favorite meeting place for many locals. This is also where she met the love of her life and soul mate, Charlie Clarno   Throughout their life together, she enjoyed listening to Charlie play music, going on outdoor adventures, and camping with family and friends.  Bette loved gardening and her times planting flowers for their yard with Charlie. Their special bond has lasted over 40 years and their love for each other has touched us all.   She also loved watching sports on TV and trying new recipes in the kitchen.  As her family grew, she loved getting new pictures of her great-grandchildren and hearing of their growing-up stories.

Bette is survived by her loving partner, Charlie, her five children: Dianna Byers, Max Hatch, Dana Torgerson (Steve), Mike Hatch, and Debbie Finnell (Dave Elizondo) along with Bill Clarno (Tina), Troy Beresford, Chad Clarno and her grandchildren:  Shaun Dominguez, Reiley Byers, Amanda Hatch, Andrew Hatch, Lindsay Peterson, Corey Torgerson, Dustin Hatch, Hannah Cline, Tessa LaBarr, Derek Beresford and 15 great-grandchidren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Thomas Powers, two brothers, Robert and Donald Powers, granddaughter, Alexis Finnell, and step-son, Bobby Clarno.

Services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:30 following a Rosary at 10:00.
