Lowry boys compete at 3A state swimming

The Lowry High School boys swim team wrapped up its season on Saturday the NIAA State Track and Field Championships on the campus of UNLV in Las Vegas.

The Buckaroos’ Nathan Perkinson finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 5.94 seconds. He was just .44 seconds from third-place Hunter Hoffman of North Tahoe. Boulder City’s AJ Pouch set a new state record with a time of 55.35. Truckee’s Aaron Bronstone was second at 1:03.62.

Hunter Lewis placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.13. Truckee’s Kaikea Crews beat the state record by nearly two seconds to win with a time of 49.66. Boulder City’s Chandler Larson was second at 57.66.

The boys 400-yard relay of Lewis, Evan Jeppsen, Tristan Miller and Perkinson were eighth with a time of 4:07.57. Truckee won the race by 18 seconds over Boulder City with a time of 3:19.59.

The 200-yard medley relay of Lewis, Perkinson, Miller and Jeppsen were eighth at 2:00.72. Truckee won the race with a time of 1:35.55.

Truckee ended Boulder City’s run of seven straight state championships and won the team title with 145 points. Boulder City was second at 125.

Cheyenne (54), Chaparral 951) and SE Career Tech Academy (36) was fifth. Lowry tied North Tahoe for 10th with 12 points.

The Boulder City girls won its sixth consecutive state championship and scored 170 points. Truckee was second at 150. Adelson (46) finished third and South Tahoe placed fourth with 36 points. Virgin Valley was fifth at 33 points.
