Battle Mountain golfers wrap up season in Boulder City

Two members of the Battle Mountain High School boys golf team finished their season late last week at the NIAA 2A State Championships at Boulder City Municipal Golf Club in Boulder City

Jimmy Harris shot rounds of 96 and 94 to finish with a 190 over the two days in southern Nevada. Teammate Alex Lopez carded rounds of 96 and 98 for a 194.

“Jimmy and Alex represented our program very well,” said BMHS coach Roger Wallock. “They both hit some great shots and played at or better than their season averages. It was nice seeing them competing in the premiere tournament of high school golf and they both came away feeling like they were part of something special.”

The Meadows claimed the state championship with a total of 649. The Mustangs shot rounds of 323 and 326. Lake Mead finished second at 344-340-684.

North Tahoe was the highest-finishing Northern 2A team with a 698. The Lakers were in second after the first day 341 but dropped to 357 and third in the final 18 holes. Whittell shot rounds of 368 and 363 for a 731 to finish fourth. Needles, Calif, (766) and Sierra Lutheran (775) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Meadows’ Kevin Inthachack was the individual champion a with a 144. He carded rounds of 73 and 71. North Tahoe;s Murphy Scott was second at 147 and The Meadows’ Veronica Joels (152) was third. White Pine’s Colin Young (154) and North Tahoe’s Connor Hipsley (157) was fifth.
