Northern 3A all-league, 3A all state baseball teams announced

As the season concludes this weekend, the Northern 3A all-league and 3A all state teams have been announced. The teams are selected by the league’s coaches.

Dayton’s Trevor Burrows was named Player of the Year in the Northern 3A and JR Murphy was selected as the Coach of the Year.

The first-team pitcher included Churchill County’s Brenden Larsen, Elko’s Julian Loera and Fernley’s Zach Burns.

Elko’ s Kamren Backherms and Austyn Marin earned first-team honors at first and second base, respectively. South Tahoe’s Peyton Galli was chosen at third base and Spring Creek’s Dakota Larson was picked at shortstop.

The first-team outfield included Justin Schmidt (Dayton), Jake Wickizer (Churchill County) and Cooper Jones (Elko). Truckee’s Derek Lafferriere was picked at catcher and Churchill County’s Edgar Alvarado was named as the designated hitter.

Spring Creek’s Thomas Ledford was named the first-team utility player.

The second-team pitchers were comprised of Mason Timbrook (Fernley), Chris Pfister (South Tahoe), Isaac Von Schoff (Dayton). Max Shanks (Spring Creek, first base), Nate Galusha (Churchill County, second base), Spencer Edmondson (Truckee), Tyler Estabrook (Truckee) and Gavin Byington (Elko) at shortstop and Joel Estabrook (Truckee, catcher) comprised the infield.

Josh Kirk (Fernley), Brock Richardson (Churchill County) and Carter Alvarado (Elko) made up the second-team outfield. Dayton’s Zach Woitas was the designated hitter and Churchill County’s Sean McCormick was named as a utility player.

Burrows, Backherms, Lafferriere, Galli, Edgar Alvarado and Larsen were named to the all-state first team.

Larson, Ledford, Loera, Jones, Wickizer, Burns and Schmidt were chosen for the all-state second team.
