Humboldt County Rodeo Club, Winnemucca to host junior high/high school rodeo finals

For the second year in a row, the Humboldt County High School Rodeo Club and Winnemucca will be hosting the Nevada Junior High School and High School Finals Rodeo from May 25-29 at the Winnemucca Events Complex.

The first performance of the junior high rodeo begins Friday, May 25, at 11 a.m. and the second performance is set for 6 p.m.

The first go of high school cutting and reined cow horse starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26.

The top-15 finals performance of the junior high rodeo begins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 26. The awards presentation will follow at 4 p.m.

The second go-around of cutting and reined cow horse will take place on Sunday, May 27, at 7 a.m. The first high school performance is set for 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 27. The night concludes with the second high school performance at 6:30 p.m.

The cutting and reined cow horse top-15 final will begin at 7 a.m. on May 28.

The third performance of the high school portion starts at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28.

The senior scholarship auction and BBQ will take place at 12:30 p.m.

The auction and BBQ will take place in the exhibit hall. Admission is $15 for adults $10 for ages 9-18 and 8 and under are free, All 100 percent of the proceeds go to the seniors.

The fourth rodeo performance is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on May 28 and queens coronation will be Tuesday, may 29, at 9 a.m. The to-15 finals will begin at 11 a.m.

The state champion awards will be handed out after the rodeo in the exhibit hall.

The rodeo events include, bareback, bull riding, saddle bronc, boys and girls cutting, reined cow horse, steer wrestling, barrel racing, chute dogging, team roping, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, pole bending, trap shoot, goat tying, ribbon roping and queen contest.
