After almost beating the defending state champion the week before, the Lowry High School boys golf team dropped to fourth place at South Tahoe on Wednesday, May 2.
Spring Creek wrapped up the regular season title in the Northern 3A, winning the tournament with a 322, its second best score of the year. Truckee finished second with a total of 347 and South Tahoe was third at 348.
Lowry carded its second highest score of the year at 354 to place fourth.
However, the finish will likely not effect the Buckaroos chances for a state tournament berth.
Elko 366), Fernley (369) and Churchill County (386) rounded out the team standings.
The Spring Creek duo of Mason Adams (74) and Daniel Mahlke were first and second, respectively, in the individual standings. Truckeeās Ethan Flynn was third with an 80.
Peyton Capellen led the Buckaroos with a round of 83 and teammate Zane Fifield joined him in the 80s with an 88. Dillon Patterson carded a 91 and Kobe Stoker and the final kept score at 92.
Seth Duncan was back on the course for the first time since the opening weekend of the season and shot 103 for the Buckaroos. Max Mavity rounded out the Lowry scores with a 108.
With one tournament left in Truckee on Wednesday, Spring Creek has locked up the No. 1 berth from the Northern 3A for the state tournament with 55 points.
Lowry is second in the Northern 3A and just needs to show up in Truckee to claim a state tournament berth. South Tahoe is third with 38 points and Truckee is fourth with 35 points. The final spot in the state tournament is still up for grabs.
The top five individuals on non-qualifying teams also advance to the state tournament
The Southern 3A held its regional championship on Monday and Tuesday at Boulder Municipal Golf Course and Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Results were not available at press time.

The NIAA State Championships take place May 14-15 at Mountain Falls Golf Club in Pahrump.
