The Lowry High School swim teams were back in action last Saturday in Truckee and came away with wins over Fernley and Sage Ridge.
The Lady Bucks beat Sage Ridge 123-30 and Fernley 117-96 and the Buckaroo boys were victorious over Fernley 116-44 and Sage Ridge 97-70.
In the girls dual, Halle Sullivan led a 1-2-3 finish for Lowry in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 40.70 seconds. Adya Goldblatt (2:43.22) and Tara Higley (3:09.53) were second and third. In addition, Sullivan won the 500-yard freestyle at 7:26.48 and Higley (8:33.35) was second.
Freshman Casalyn Perkinson was first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:29.25 and she was third in the 50-yard freestyle at 33.46. Bree LeBrun posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:14.60 and 100-yard backstroke at 1:17.88.
Melissa Ramirez (1:27.21) and Leann Barber (1:49.25) were second and third in the 100-yard freestyle and Goldblatt (1:20.87), Breanna Barber (1:27.82) and Mikayla Wright (1:33.96) were third, fourth and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke.
The 200-yard medley relay of Goldblatt, Perkinson, LeBrun and Wright were first at 2:32.42, the 200-yard relay of LeBrun, Wright, Perkinson and Goldblatt were first and Ramirez, Leann Barber, Higley and Breanna Barber were second at 2:45.09. The 400-yard relay of Ramirez, Leann Barber, Higley and Sullivan led the way with a time of 5:42.72.
In the Fernley dual, Sullivan’s times in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle were good enough to win. LeBrun’s times in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle were tops as well.
All three relay teams defeated Fernley as well.
On the boys side, Lowry won 10 events against Fernley including two victories each by Tristan Miller and Nathan Perkinson.
Miller took home the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:25.10 and the 100-yard butterfly at 1:13.22. Perkinson topped the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.41 and the 50-yard freestyle at 25.66.
Evan Jeppsen won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 3:00.62 and was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:06.75. Hunter Lewis (1:03.53) and Aidan Maher (1:03.87) were first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle. Ashton Kalkoske won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:28.13 and he was second in the boys 200-yard freestyle at 2:39.10. Kyle Cline posted a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:12.31.
All three relay teams were victorious, starting with Lewis, Perkinson, Miller and Jeppsen in the 200-yard medley relay at 2:03.44. Kalkoske, Cline, Maher and Miller led the way in the 200-yard relay at 2:03.35. Lewis, Cline, Jeppsen and Perkinson won the 400-yard relay by 10 seconds over Fernley with a time of 4:32.00.
Against Sage Ridge, Perkinson’s times in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke were good enough to win. Miller also led the way in the 100-yard butterfly.
Lowry was back in the pool on Friday to swim against Excel Christian and Incline.
