David Darrell Ross passed away at his home on March 24th, 2018. He was 68 years old.
David was born in Myrtle Creek, OR on March 27, 1949 to Lamont Edward Ross and Ada Mae Bearden. He attended school in various places throughout Oregon and graduated in 1968 from Chiloquin High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and later attended Linn-Benton Community College for two years. Also in 1969, he attended his cousin’s wedding where he met the woman with whom he would spend the rest of his life. He married Sue Ann Boehm on July 11th, 1970, and the couple moved to Nevada in 1975. Their son, Jason, was born in 1979, and their daughter, Kelly, was born in 1981. In 1984, Dave started working for the Winners Inn and Casino. He worked there for 26 years as the Chief of Security and Club Manager, retiring in 2010.
Anyone who knew Dave realized that he was a storyteller. He loved recounting his eventful childhood, his experiences with the love of his life, Sue Ann, the adventures of parenthood, and the good times he had with his friends. He enjoyed sharing and laughing about his life’s stories with all who would listen. Dave was a friend to everyone and always made people feel comfortable with his big, friendly smile.
One of the happiest moments in David’s life was when he became a grandfather in 2003. Frequently, he was seen around town taking his granddaughter, Mia, out to eat and spoiling her as often as he could.
Above all else, David was a family man. His family was the most important aspect of his life. Second to his family was his love of fishing. Dave enjoyed the outdoors and spent many weekends and vacations at various fishing spots throughout Northern Nevada and Oregon. He could spend all day trying to catch his limit, unless he was with his kids. Then, he would spend all day untangling reels.
David is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Sue Ann, son Jason Ross, daughter Kelly Ross, granddaughter Mia Ross, brothers Ed Ross and Dan Ross, and sisters Judy McGee, Linda Gruver, and Charlotte Brock.
According to David’s wishes, there will be no services.
