Obituary: Ann Fundis Kolman

Following a battle with cancer and final, brief illness, Ann Kolman, 86, passed away on March 14, 2018. She was born November 15, 1931 in Maud, Oklahoma to Walt and Mollie Fundis. The family moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 1939 and to Lovelock, Nevada in 1942.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Pete Fundis and her three sons, Kirk, Kip and Brad Quilici. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Cora and Robert Rix; sister-in-law Gloria Fundis; daughter–in-law Lynda Quilici; her much loved grandchildren Brooke (Jim) Smith and Dario Quilici; nieces Susan (Roy) Jones, Molly (Vic) Catanzaro, Patty (John) Kavazanjian, Jane (Ryan) Tors and Kay (Joe) Neal and nephew John Fundis; great nieces and nephews; as well as loving cousins in Oklahoma and Texas who all referred to her affectionately as “Aunt Ann.”

Ann moved to Rye Patch Ranch upon retiring from the County of San Bernardino in Southern California to be near Brad and Lynda and quickly began to use her skills as a master gardener to brighten up her home. She loved to travel with her sister Cora to Europe and often made trips with Pete and Gloria to the Southwest region of the U.S.

She needed a new hobby, so joined the Country Quilters in Lovelock and quickly became an accomplished quilter and enjoyed making quilts for family and friends. She was always available to give advice and help newcomers to the quilting world.

She enjoyed luncheons with the “49ers,” a group of friends who graduated in the class of 1949 at Pershing County High School.

Ann was one of a kind, and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. At her request, services will be private and a reception to celebrate her life will be at a later date.

Donations in her memory may be made to: Lovelock Humane Society or the Rye Patch or Lovelock Volunteer Fire Departments.
