The Lowry High School baseball team dodged the snow this weekend and left Fernley this past Saturday with a split of two games to begin the Northern 3A season.
Fernley takes game
one from Lowry
Fernley grabbed game one of the doubleheader on the strength of a combined seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win 13-11.
The Buckaroos held a 7-2 lead after the top of thew fourth inning but could not hold the advantage. Ridge Ricketts and Josh Leveille each had three hits for Lowry. Jacob Marriott had two hits. Leveille led the Buckaroos with five RBI.
Ren Mattson started for Lowry and had six strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. Jordan Parker also pitched for the Buckaroos.
Bucks knock off Vaqueros
Lowry trailed 2-1 after three inning sin the nightcap but scores three runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth to earn an 11-4 win. The Buckaroos also scored three runs in the seventh inning.
Marriott earned the win, pitching six strong innings. He struck out nine.
Leveille picked up three hits and Anthony Hemp and Mattson each had two hits. Marriott helped himself out with two RBI.
Lowry was back in Fernley on Monday to close out the series. Results were not available at press time. The game was played to make up for the postponed game last Friday.
Lowry (2-5 overall, 1-1 Northern 3A) makes its home debut this weekend against Spring Cree, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday. Saturday’s doubleheader is set for 11 a.m.
The Buckaroos will be back home om March 30 and March 31 to host Sparks in a three-game series.
