The 11th Judicial Court arraigned Kevin Lanier Libbee on felony forgery charges on Monday. Public Defender Steve Cochran represented the defendant.
Libbee pleaded not guilty.
DDA Todd Banks explained possible penalties for the alleged crime. If the State of Nevada proves its case, the defendant faces from one to four years in prison and fines of up to $5,000.
Nevada law gives the judge the discretion to grant probation, said Banks.
The state alleges that on Aug. 15, 2016, Libbee entered a signature other than his own with the intent to defraud.
The court held review hearing on two additional charges — obtaining money by false pretenses and the attempted fraudulent use of a debit card.
The judge continued the cases until April 2, 2018.
