Following a second consecutive run to the 3A state championship game, the Lowry High School girls basketball team had four players named to the respective Northern 3A all-league teams.

Senior Alyssa Kuskie and junior Sydney Connors were selected to the first team. Kuskie also earned first-team, all-state honors, while Connors was named to the all-state second team.

Kuskie was the leading scorer on the team with over 13 points a game. She also averaged 2.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.2 steals. Connors averaged nearly 12 points a game with 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.0 steals a game.

The Lady Bucks advanced to the 3A state championship game for a second straight year, falling to Churchill County 60-45. Lowry finished the year at 17-10 overall and 12-4 in the Northern 3A.

Churchill County’s Anne Smith was named the Northern 3A Coach of the Year, while Churchill County senior Caitlyn Welch was named the Player of the Year in the Northern 3A.

The remainder of the first team included Churchill County’s Leta Otuafi and Lani Otuafi, Fernley’s Hailee Edgar and Spring Creek’s Jasmine YYadeskie.

Leta Otuafi and Welch joined Kuskie on the all-state first-team from the North. Lani Otuafi, Edgar and Yadeskie were second-team, all-state choices.

The Northern 3A second team was rounded out by Faith Cornmesser (Churchill County), Celeste Condie (Fernley), Alexis Elquist (Elko), Lexi Baum (Elko), Kylee Dimick (Spring Creek) and Angie Hurtado (Sparks).

Lowry seniors Kyllie Sappington and Shelby Garrison were an honorable mention choices. Sappington collected 5.1 points a game to go with 7.7 rebounds 1.6 assists and 1.7 steals. She was the leading rebounder on the Lady Bucks’ squad.

Garrison averaged 3.3 points and 4.6 rebounds a game.

The remainder of the honorable mention team included Spring Creek’s Kaitlyn McLeod and Caitlyn Dimick, Sparks’ Laree Murillo, Fernley’s Brittney Gaitan and Jaiden Sullivan, Churchill County’s Kaitlyn Hunter, Elko’s Sariah Pulley, Dayton’s Abby Sikora, Truckee’s Emma Cooley and South Tahoe’s Hailey Naccarto.
