McDermitt High School’s Precious Masters was honored as the Eastern 1A Player of the Year, as selected by the league’s four coaches. This is the second consecutive Player of the Year award for Masters.
The junior averaged 23 points and 13.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.8 steals with the Lady Bulldogs this season
McDermitt won the Eastern 1A at 8-0 and finished 20-3 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs reached the Northern 1A Regional Semifinals, losing to Eureka 70-67 in double overtime.
Wells’ Enoch Dahl, McDermitt’s Jaimi Wilkinson, Eureka’s Travis Gallagher and Owyhee’s Todd Tate shared the Coach of the Year honors.
Wells and Eureka shared the Sportsmanship Award.
The all-division first team was rounded out by Owyhee’s Macee McKinney and Kaylani Smart, Eureka’s Morgan Thomas and Wells’ Sammy Stumpf and Keegan Laughlin.
McDermitt senior Morissa Bitt was named to the second team. She averaged 9.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals a game.
The second team included Eureka’s Cody Gibbs and Angelika Townsend, Wells’ Cameron Powers and Owyhee’s Cree Lynn Rainingbird.
Senior Adrie Smart was selected to the honorable mention team. She averaged 4.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals a game.
The honorable mention team was rounded out with Wells’ Amanda Murphy, Sam Shamblin and Bernice Aboite and Eureka’s Teanna Green.
An all-defensive team was added this year and McDermitt sophomore Meianah Bitt was one of four girls named to the team. Bitt averaged 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals a game. The all-defensive team include Ale Dick (Owyhee) and Murphy (Wells) and Gibbs (Eureka).
