On Thursday, the Lovelock Softball Association (LSA) hit another one out of David McDougal Memorial Park. The LSA hosts biweekly games throughout the summer.
Six teams challenged each other on the field.
The Lovelock Paiute Tribe sent the Weekend Warriors. The Station 19 Crazies represented Pershing General Hospital.
The Warriors whipped the Crazies (22-17) in the closest game of the evening.
Other teams included the county, the Swamp Donkeys, the Iny’s and Outy’s and Jims Point.
Jake Bohan’s three home runs pushed Jim’s Point over the top. They beat the Iny’s and Outy’s (18-5).
The Swamp Donkeys swamped the County (17-0).
Each team wears a distinctive jersey. Station 19 features a nurse snapping her gloves. The Swamp Donkeys showcase their mascot.
The teams play one of Lovelock’s favorite sports. Recent PCHS grads like Erica Holland and Mikayla Montes grew up playing the game. Players like Dylan Hultenschmidt and Russell Fecht add their baseball smarts to the mix.
Meanwhile, spectators watch from lawn chairs. A concession stand sells refreshments to keep everyone hydrated. Little kids entertain themselves on the playground equipment. Dogs rest in the shade.
The association hosts tournaments every Monday and Thursday evening through Aug. 2. The games begin at 6, 7 and 8 p.m.
