Lake Township Justice Court

A Lovelock man came to the 11th Judicial Court on Monday, June 18. He faced sentencing for forgery and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Kevin Libbee pleaded guilty to both crimes in April 2018. In exchange for the guilty plea, the District Attorney’s office agreed to not charge the defendant as a habitual criminal.

Nevada’s version of a “three strikes” law can yield lengthy prison terms including life without the possibility of parole.

The DA also dismissed several charges.

Judge Jim Shirley gave Libbee 27-72 months for the forgery charge. In addition he’ll serve 12-34 months for obtaining money by false pretenses. The sentences will run concurrently.

Libbee must pay $5,000 in reparations to his victim. The judge denied probation. Sheriff’s officers took Libbee into custody following his sentencing.
