Obituary: Gloria Gay Thomas

Gloria Gay Thomas, 80, passed away on 06/12/2018 in Coquille, OR following a short stay with her son in Myrtle Point, OR.

Gay was born on 12/12/1937 in Port Orford, OR to Joe and Ruth Combest. She spent her early adult years cooking at Orfords Café where the “breakfast crowd” would anxiously await her fresh baked biscuits. In later years she worked in the local hardware stores where she learned to fix almost anything. Gay spent the last 18 years living in Winnemucca, NV near family, having 9 children the family is scattered about. She became known in this community for her volunteer work at the local hospice thrift shop, The Frugal Flamingo. She received special recognition from the Governor of Nevada for her volunteer service at The Frugal Flamingo. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, making delicious jams and jellies and baking homemade bread to cheerfully share with family and friends.

Gay was preceded in death by her husband Roy, and daughters Jerri and Kathy as well as her son Mike. She is survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters, Gloria De Frisco of CA, Pastor Tom Morris (Sandy) of Myrtle Point, OR, Alan Thomas of TX, Susan Williams (Tray) of Sutherlin, OR, Patrick Masterson (Vikki) of Winnemucca, NV and Mary Coulton (Kevin) of Troutdale, OR as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gay was well known for her cooking and sharing stories and wisdom of the past with family and friends alike. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.
