American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) held its soccer camp at the Ralph Whitworth Recreation Complex June 11-15.
This years camp was coached by professional coaches from UK International. Two of the coaches were from England and one was from Scotland.
Twenty five to 40 kids were broken into groups based on their ages. Age four to six ran from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and age six to 16 went from 9 a.m.-noon. Age eight to 16 participated from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. During this five-day camp, youngsters were able to learn the basics of soccer and more from these professional coaches.
Sabrina Cassens, the child volunteer protection advocate (CVPA) for the Winnemucca AYSO, was pleased with the turnout this year at the camp.
“We were fortunate to get these professional coaches from
UK International, I think it helped our attendance at the camp,” Cassens said. “Opening ceremonies for the start of the soccer season will be held for the first time in the 33 year history of Winnemucca AYSO. “There will be recognition of all the local sponsors and introductions of all the teams at this event.” The opening ceremonies will be held on Sept. 8 at the Ralph Whitworth Recreation Complex..
