Robert Jay Sallee Jr. of Battle Mountain, NV left us suddenly on July 16, 2018.
He was a Nevadan through and through. His family lived in Wells and moved to Elko when he was 1 1/2 years old.
He grew up in Elko and enjoyed participating in Little League and high school wrestling. Growing up, he spent summers ranching for family in O’Neil Basin at the Smith Cottonwood Ranch.
His small demeanor allowed him to pursue a career as a horse jockey in California for a few years.
When he was done jockeying, Rob moved back to Elko and began his lifelong career in the gold mining industry.
He married Mardell Wilkins and had his son Zachary Clay Sallee. He had his daughter Sydney Elle Sallee with his second wife Sheila Barrett. Rob and Loretta met in December 2004 and were married in Battle Mountain on 12/2/2009.
Rob was a good man who had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, and woodworking.
Anything Rob wanted to do, he was great at it. He loved working in the mining industry and working with the dirt. Jarbidge was special to him.
Rob is survived by wife Loretta, son Zachary Clay, daughter Sydney Elle, father Robert Sr. (Ruth), sister Shelli, brother Brett (Karen), stepdaughter Courtney (Dan) Tomera, stepson Dennis (Sarah) White, stepson Tim White, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces ,nephews, and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
