Lucille A. Maga passed away suddenly on July 20, 2018. She was born June 13, 1943 to John R. and Katie J. Sieben in Macklin, Saskatchewan, Canada. She married Norman G. Maga, November 18, 1963 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada and they made their way to Winnemucca, Nevada earning their U.S. Citizenship.
After their first two children, Dean and Randy were born in Winnemucca, Norman and Lucille moved to Yerington, Nevada for a short time where their third child, Alexis was born. They then decided to move back and make Winnemucca home.
Lucille worked in the medical industry for many years. Most noted for her time working for the late Dr. Allen T. Brown as the office manager and the best allergy shot giver in town. In the early 1970’s Norman and Lucille bought their first truck which was the birth of Maga Trucking. While Norman drove the truck, Lucille continued to work for Dr. Brown and dispatch the trucks. As time passed, the trucks started to accumulate and outgrew their home. In 1984 they purchased the Armstrong Property at 4505 West Winnemucca Boulevard to allow the business to grow. Although, the marriage of Norman and Lucille ended after 33 years they continued to share a passion for the trucking industry.
Maga trucking continued to grow to what it is today, consisting of 25+ trucks and 5 cranes that service the Northern Nevada Mining and Construction Industries within 11 Western States. Lucille remained the rock of the business with her intelligent, business savvy ways until her unexpected passing. Maga Trucking will continue to flourish under her son Randy Maga and his children.
Lucille’s major accomplishments include her three children, Dean Maga, Randy Maga, Alexis Maga-Mattson and her eight grandchildren, Julian, Katie, Jake, Brad, Chet, Ren, Kole and TJ. Her intelligent, sassy, honest, outspoken ways not only played a major part in the success of Maga Trucking but played a huge role in the raising of her three children. However, with all her accomplishments the role as “Grandma Cille” is by far the role she absolutely loved the most.
Lucille was admired by many people. She made an unforgettable impression on this Earth as a successful business woman, daughter, sister, mother, friend and most importantly grandmother. Lucilles’s life is a true testament to the American dream. She will certainly be missed by all that knew her.
Lucille is preceded in death by her father John R. Sieben, mother Katie J. Sieben and brother Larry Sieben, all from Canada.
Lucille is survived by her three children; Dean (Martha) Maga of Reno, Randy (Lorena) Maga of Winnemucca, Jaci Miller of Winnemucca, Alexis (John) Mattson of Winnemucca, her grandchildren; Julian Maga, Katie Maga, of Reno, Jake Maga, Brad Maga, Chet Maga, Lorenzo “Ren” Mattson, Shane “Kole” Mattson and Terrance John “TJ” Mattson all of Winnemucca. Siblings: Luella Bosch, Tom Sieben, Gerald Sieben, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and even a few great, great nieces and nephews, all of Canada.
There will be a viewing at the Sonoma Fueral Home Chapel on July 26, 2018 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. A service will be held on Friday the 27 at St. Pauls Catholic Church at 11 a.m.
