The National High School Finals Rodeo concluded this past weekend in Rock Springs, Wyo., with success from Battle Mountain cowgirls.
Dally Goemmer finished 10th in the nation in reined cow horse. In her first performance in the vent, she was fourth with 285 points, which was good enough for 15th in the go-around. She improved to 287.5 points in her second performance, which was fourth place and 18th in the second go-around. She placed fourth in the short go-around with 292 points and was 10th in the average with 864.5 points.
Goemmer also took part in barrel racing and was eight in her first performance with a time of 18.155 seconds, which was 63rd in the first go-around. She stopped the clock at 18.382 in her second performance to place 18th and was 63rd in the average at 36.537.
In her final event, pole bending, she was 84th in the average with a time of 47.305. Goemmer was fourth in her first performance and 34tyh in the first go-around at 20.935. However, she knocked a pole down in her second run to finish with a time of 26.320.
Her sister Riata Goemmer, took part in barrel racing and was 17th in her first performance in a time of 18.410, which was 87th in the go-around. Goemmer stopped the clock at 18.698 in the second performance and was 81st in the average at 37.108.
Kaylee Filippini competed in two events and was 17th in the nation in reined cow horse with an average of 847 points. Filippini scored 277.5 points in her first performance which was good enough for 43rd in the average. She jumped up the leader board in the second go-around, where she finished second with 294 points. That jump put her in the short go-around, where she placed 16th with 275.5 points.
Filippini also took part in girls cutting and had scores of 136 and 120 to place 76th in the average with 256 points.
