The National High School Finals Rodeo began this past Sunday in Rock Springs, Wyo.
A pair of Battle Mountain sisters, Dally and Riata Goemmer are back in the finals, which has been a familiar spot for the duo.
Dally Goemmer made her first run in pole bending on Sunday night and finished fourth in her performance with a time of 20.935 seconds. McKenna Coronado of Kanarraville, Utah, won the performance at 20.463. Goemmer makes her second run in pole bending on Saturday morning.
It will be a busy week for Dally Goemmer, who is also participating in reined cow horse and barrel racing. She made her first run in reined cow horse on Monday night and results were not available at press time. Her second performance in the event is set for Thursday morning.
Goemmer was in the arena on Tuesday morning for barrel racing and those results were not available as well, as of press time. Her second performance is set for Thursday night.
Riata Goemmer made her first run in barrel racing on Monday night and will be back in action on Friday morning. Her performances for girls cutting is set for Tuesday morning and Thursday night.
The National Finals Rodeo concludes on Saturday night in Wyoming.
The National High School Rodeo Association is one of the fastest growing youth organizations, with an annual membership of approximately 12,500 students from 42 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. The Association sanctions over 1,800 rodeos each year.
