Kids aged 6-17 participated in a scramble style golf tournament on Wednesday at the Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course.
Twenty three boys and girls enjoyed a beautiful morning round that was sponsored by the Winnemucca Ladies Golf Club.
Two teams tied for first place and were awarded golf balls for their efforts.
The team of Cal Peters, AJ Mendoza, Katelyn Cassinelli and Lacy Fentress shot a 32. But that number was matched by the team of Marquette Cassinelli, Kobe Stoker and Jack DeLong.
Logan Pointon (10) commented on the tournament by saying, “I’m used to doing golf, I always come out here, it’s just a fun sport.”
Kayden Yowell (10) chimed in with, “I came for fun and competition.”
Second place went to the team of Tristen Cassinelli, Kayden Yowell, Logan Pointon and Luke Fentress with a score of 34.
When asked why she entered this tournament Bailey Hayes (14) said, “To get out of the house, I’ve never golfed before.”
The junior tournaments will occur every Wednesday for the next five weeks and will start at 9 a.m.
