John A. Lightfoot, 79, passed away in his sleep at home on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Reno, Nevada. He was born July 3, 1938 to A. J. and Verdie (Pate) Lightfoot in Ringgold, Louisiana. On June 26, 1968 he married Mary Ann Kern in Beaumont, Texas. John enjoyed fishing, shooting, and being up in the hills around Lovelock, Nevada.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann; his 4 sons: Anthony (Tony) Lightfoot of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Allen Lightfoot of Prairieville, Louisiana, Lynn David Lightfoot of Vacaville, California, and Mark Robicheaux of Franklin, Louisiana; his 3 daughters: Renelle Dressel of Franklin, Louisiana, Sheri O’Connor of Lafayette, Louisiana and Pamela Lightfoot of Prairieville, Louisiana. One sister, Jo Beth Pilgrim of Ringgold, Louisiana as well as 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; A. J. and Verdie Lightfoot.
A “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from 4:00 until 6:00 p. m. at Bertha and Miranda’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in downtown Reno, Nevada. Memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Post 6 in Lovelock, Nevada.
