Hubert Lawrence Sharp was born to Omer Bernice Sharp and Reta Oma Gillum Sharp on May 29, 1930, in Stahl Missouri. At the age of 10 his family moved to Southwestern Idaho living in Bowmont and Grandview before settling in Kuna Idaho.
On July 1, 1950 Hubert married Phyllis Jean Hobbs. From their union they had six children, Ellen Faye Sharp, Martha Rynearson (Jon), Shirley Chantrill, Lance Sharp, Lawrence Sharp (Sherri) all of Elko and LaReta McElyea (Joe) of Minot, North Dakota.
Hubert joined the Army Air Corp in 1949 during the Korean conflict. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1952, Hubert graduated Barber College. Hubert worked in or owned barber shops in Alaska and Idaho.
In 1979 Hubert and Phyllis moved to Battle Mountain, NV. They owned Sharp and Son’s Trucking and Sharp Enterprises. When asked his occupation he always said, “Whatever it took to make a buck.” He was a barber, farmer, truck driver, jewelry maker, salesman and peddler. He was self employed most of his life.
In 2005 they moved to Elko, NV to be closer to their children.
Hubert is survived by his wife Phyllis, five of his children, by 17 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters Evelyn Davis, Hurricane, UT and Mary Davis, LaVerkin, UT; sister-in-law Myrta (Arnold) Jensen Newburg OR. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother in-laws, Clarence and Sadie Hobbs; daughter, Ellen Faye; brother, Howard Sharp; and granddaughter, Jennifer Chantrill.
Services will be held at Burns Funeral Home on February 3, 2018, at 10 am.
