Pat passed into the arms of our Lord on January 19, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mardie, son Bret (Sophie), daughter Kim Mooney (Greg Cohee), adoring Popa of Patrick, Hailey & Harmony Hart & Jace Mooney, and sisters Ella Hart & Jonette Bayley. 

His parents, John & Alice Hart and sisters Cathy Arneson & Aggie Craig, preceded him in death. 

Pat was born in San Francisco, CA in 1940, raised in Sparks, NV & attended the University of Nevada Reno as an undergraduate where he ran track and was a member of the SAE fraternity.

He served in the US Marine Corps Reserves prior to becoming an admired high school teacher & basketball coach at Lowry High School in Winnemucca, NV leading the teams to 3 State Championships with a 75-5 record and was later inducted into that school’s Hall of Fame.

In 1975, he moved to San Jose, CA to teach & coach at San Jose High School and to obtain his Master’s Degree at San Jose State Univ. 

Pat inspired, mentored & challenged students in traditional and continuation schools and was Teacher of the Year in 1997-98. He then became the technology coordinator at the SCCOE.

Pat was a lector and member of the Santa Teresa Catholic Church in San Jose.  After 42 years, he retired and moved to Santa Rosa, CA where he took up golf. 

Throughout his life, Pat played football, basketball and baseball, and enjoyed water & snow skiing. He was an avid fan of the Warriors, Giants & Forty-Niners. 

Pat’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 3 at 11 am at the Star of the Valley Catholic Church (495 White Oak Dr) in Santa Rosa, CA followed by a Celebration of Life reception.
