On Dec. 15, The Winnemucca Buckaroos Special Olympics Bowling team traveled to Reno, Nevada for the Regional Bowling Competition.
The Special Olympics athletes practiced for eight weeks at Spare Time bowling before participating in the competition.
Athletes traveled on a Coach bus to the overnight event and stayed at the Circus Circus hotel. Special Olympic athletes from all over Northern Nevada come to compete.
The weekend is kicked off by a dance the night before for all athletes. The day of the competition starts with the opening ceremonies which included Winnemucca Special Olympics athlete Michael Simpson, who was chosen to carry the torch this year. Athletes competed in both singles and double bowling, for gold, silver and bronze medals.
