McDermitt High School’s Cauy Crutcher and Ben Draunidalo were named to the Eastern 1A first team by the league’s six coaches.
Crutcher, a senior, averaged 21.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.2 steals a game.
Draunidalo, a sophomore, averaged 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds a game.
The Bulldogs finished 12-14 overall this season and 8-2 in league play. McDermitt finished second in the Eastern 1A and beat Sierra Lutheran in the opening round of the Northern 1A Regional Championships. The Bulldogs lost in the semifinals to Mineral County.
Jackpot’s Ricky Miramontes was named the Player of the Year and Jackpot’s Carlos Perez was chosen as the Coach of the Year. Wells was given the Sportsmanship award.
The remainder of the first-team included Carlin’s Makai Haub and Jackpot’s Jerry Martinez and Eduardo Avila.
The Bulldogs’ Diego Navarro and Duane Masters were named to the second team.
Navarro scored 11.1 points a game to go with 7.5 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.5 assists a game. Masters averaged 7.1 points, 3.0 steals, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
The remainder of that group included Eureka’s Chance Green, Owyhee’s Rigo Cordova, Wells’ Juan Berumen and Jackpot’s Michael Salas.
McDermitt senior Duane Horse was named to the honorable mention squad. He scored 4.5 points a game to go with 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
The honorable mention squad included Wells’ Enrique Aguilar, Eureka’s Tristin Birchim, Jackpot’s Jerry Martinez and Owyhee’s Julian Dick.
An all-defensive team was added this year and Haub was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
The Bulldogs’ Navarro was part of the team, along with Aguilar (Wells), Birchim (Eureka), Martinez (Jackpot) and Dick (Owyhee).
