Kings River Valley Community Hall gets new gym floor

Kings River Valley was finally able to host its first Humboldt County School District rural basketball game on Jan. 27.

Kings River has had the new gym/community hall for more than 10 years but hadn’t been able to raise enough money for a gym floor until recently.

The community has held numerous fundraisers and received many donations from locals and hunt club members.

In addition, the community received the Harney Electric Grant of $5,000, which was matched with another $5,000 from CoBank. These contributions made it possible to install the gym floor in February of 2017.

The Paradise Valley community donated an extra score board it had that was donated originally by the Boys and Girls Club of Winnemucca. Gary and Bryn Echevarria helped make this possible.

The gym/hall is used for community and private events like birthdays, weddings, church, P.E. for Kings River Valley School, community volleyball and exercise groups.

There is still a need for funds for bleachers, a portable stage, and on-going water well problems. The General Improvement District pays our utilities and insurance.

The Kings River community would like to thank everyone who has helped with donations of money, items, and their time.

The Kings River Community Club will be having a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner/Bingo Event on March 17 — come out and have fun.

The money raised at this event will go towards purchasing bleachers and a stage.
