Ronda Barela passed away peacefully on December 1, 2018, in Reno, Nevada, surrounded by her family.
Ronda was born December 18, 1952 to Delaine and Mayola Dowley in Payson, Utah. She was raised with one brother and six sisters,
She was a loving mother to her sons, Brandon and Cory, but her real joy was her grandchildren, Heston, Taylor, Tierra, and Layne.
Over the years, Ronda worked as a caregiver for the elderly, as a security guard, and at
Walmart. She loved to travel, visiting Italy and Hawaii with her sisters, and often took vacations
and camping trips with her grandchildren. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and sitting on the porch with her dogs. She looked forward to Christmas, created beautiful handmade crafts, and would make any stray animal a pet. She had a great sense of humor, even if it came at her own expense.
Her family would like to thank everyone who cared for Ronda at Humboldt General Hospital, Renown Hospital, and Northern Nevada Medical Center.
Ronda’s sons would like to say a special thank you to her sister Trena, who provided her with loving companionship and care during the last 15 years.
She is survived by her sons Brandon Barela and Cory (Kim) Barela, grandchildren Heston Barela, Taylor Barela, Tierra Barela, and Layne Barela, sisters Trena Baker, Robyn Spring, Gaylene Hreinsen, and Malaine Wareham, various nieces and nephews, and her dogs.
She will be greeted in Heaven by her parents, Delaine and Mayola Dowley, her brother Veldon Dowley, and sisters AnnaLee Distefano and Marilyn Atwood.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for the spring. She will be dearly missed.
