Obituary: Dorothy Viola Wedge

Dorothy Viola Wedge, 91, of Winnemucca Nevada went home to the Lord on December 4, 2018.

She was born in Lacey Springs, Alabama to Curtis and Lillian (Parsons) Light on January 6, 1927.

She graduated from Arab High School in 1945 and went on to North Alabama Business college. She moved to Winnemucca 8 years ago to be closer to family.

Before that she lived in Pitsview, Alabama and Sacramento, California.

She was a true patriot, a military widow who loved her years traveling and living at different Duty stations with her late husband Don Wedge.

She contributed generously to the VFW, USO, World War II museum, Seabee Museum, Vietnam Memorial and she was a Gold Star wife. She loved her country. Dorothy would go to the Pleasant Senior Center on the bus, do her exercises and have lunch, at table 12, and tell anyone at the table a story from one of her “adventures in life”.

On October 28, 2018 she was featured in the Humboldt Sun “Senior News” and it was a great story she told of her life.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Buster Light and Margie of Salmon, Idaho. Her daughters Claudette Bruffett and James of Clovis New Mexico. Saundra Lange and Lance of Winnemucca. Numerous and very much loved Grand, great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Those that preceded her in death were her father and mother, three husbands Don Wedge, Wilbur James, Harvey Smith, and 2 sons Doyle and Billy  Smith, five brothers Eddie, W. C., Lester, Charles, and Bufford Light.

The family would like to thank HGH ambulance personnel, Dr. Davis in the ER all the nurses especially Dani for helping Mom and us through the last days.

Most of all the Lord for guiding all of us. Her church family, Sonoma Baptist for the prayers and love they so freely give.

There will be a future announcement of a “celebration of life” which will take place in the spring.
