Battle Mountain JV boys sweep four games at home tournament

The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity boys basketball team finished its preseason tournament scheduled with four wins at its home tournament, the Longhorn Invitational, this past weekend.

Battle Mountain opened with an easy 66-15 win over Carlin on Friday. Riley Buller had nine points and two rebounds and Brock Bullock also scored nine points in the victory. Aldo Castellanos added eight points and two rebounds.

Later in the day, Battle Mountain cruised to a 30-point win, 45-15, over Spring Creek.

Castellanos led the Longhorns with 11 points, Terrence Fetterly finished with eight points and a rebound and Santos Farias had seven points and one rebound.

In the final game on Friday, Battle Mountain beat White Pine 49-29.

Kobe Lake had 13 points and eight rebounds, while Farias contributed eight points and five rebounds. Nolan Chopp had eight points and three rebounds.

Battle Mountain closed out the tournament with a 67-51 victory over Mineral County.

Castellanos had 12 points and eight rebounds, Bullock joined him in double figures with 10 points and Farias had nine points and six rebounds.

Battle Mountain opens league play on Friday in West Wendover and the road trip concludes Saturday in Ely against White Pine.

The Longhorns finish out the calendar year on Thursday, Dec. 20, at home against North Tahoe and Friday, Dec. 21, versus Incline.
