Obituary: Lynn Marie MacDonald Martinez Webster

Lynn Marie MacDonald Martinez Webster left her wild west World and blissfully entered heaven eternally on the morning of August 18, 2018 at her Wellton home with her family and dear friends holding her tight.

Born January 8, 1963 in San Jose, California, Lynn spent most of her early years in Southern California. Her love of open country and rodeo took her to Winnemucca, Nevada before she later moved to her desert paradise in Wellton, Arizona.

To Lynn, not one person was a stranger, whether you’d just arrived to town or had been around for years, you were genuinely welcomed with a contagious smile and fully committed hugs.

Lynn loved immensely, and she passed on her sincerity and unmatched ability to “love much and love all” to her two beautiful daughters, Kristy and Jamie.  When Wellton became her full-time home in the late 90’s with her then husband Danny Martinez, she found “her place” among the calmness of the desert.

Lynn loved horses, she admired and respected all animals, and she saw beauty in most everything that moved. It was her ability to focus on the inner picture, to speak from her heart, and to feel with her soul, which made her most unique.

Lynn loved her home, she loved the peace, she rejoiced in the deserts year-a-round swimsuit weather, and the never-ending summers of Arizona.

She made many friends in Wellton, and among the sanctity of this new landscape, she would later meet her beloved husband John Webster.

The 12 years of their marriage involved remote Jeep tours of the Sonoran Desert, small loving dogs, riding horses into sunsets, boating, fishing trips, travelling, numerous RV trips, and helping raise their beautiful grandchildren.

Lynn embraced John’s daughters Jodi and Cristy as her own, and despite her jokes, she was never able to fill the shoes of the “evil stepmother.”  As her family and friends grew exponentially in Wellton, their home became the place to stop by, visit, or even camp out—“until further notice.” One thing was always certain, no matter who, why or when, you always knew Lynn would welcome you with open arms into her home.

It was this unconditional love and the smile first mindset, which made it impossible not to love Lynn and easily confide in her. She was a great listener and she knew when to hug, when to speak up, and when to offer her wisdom.

Part of what made her such an incredible friend, was her fearless humility, and the ability to laugh when others might want to cry or scream in frustration. Her smile was always the brightest and first in any room.

Lynn will be forever missed by all that knew and deeply loved her. She is survived by her husband John Webster, daughters Kristy Martinez & Jamie Garcia, and their husbands Brett Albisu & John Garcia, her mother, Nancy Rocheleau, her sisters Chris MacDonald & Jill MacDonald, her brothers Skip MacDonald, Rob MacDonald, and Jeffrey Rocheleau, two daughters by luck and their husbands, Jodi & Rusty Pool and Cristy & Brian Thomas, and her 9 precious grandchildren, Kelby, Lexie, Mark, Blake, Austin, Johnny, Presley, Lauryn and Kayla, and one on the way, whom we know was already absolutely loved by “Grammy Lynny.”

We are grateful to our dear friends, especially Kim Beshears, and family who so selflessly participated in caring for Lynn over the past four months. There are no words to express our family’s appreciation for everyone and a thank you to their families for sharing your loved ones with us.  To Kristen, Gaby and Daphna at Hospice of Yuma, and Dominique and Kimberly at TLC Home Health Care, your caring hearts will forever be remembered and appreciated.

A celebration of life to honor the loving memory of Lynn will be held at a later date, at her Wellton home, which she shared with her husband, her family, and an overabundance of wonderful friends. At this celebration, we hope all those whose lives Lynn blessed, and enriched, can join us. From her original roots in California, to the cowboy life she embraced with her whole heart in Nevada, to those lifelong friends from Iowa, and of course, her Arizona people.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lynn’s name to Hospice of Yuma.

We know Lynn is looking out at the beauty of the World above us, watching over all of us, and making sure we are doing as she would do… “Killing ‘em with kindness” and mesmerized over the beauty of all things ahead.
