The Lowry High School volleyball team went to Yerington last weekend to participate in a multi-division tournament.
The Lady Bucks emerged with a 3-3 record and a lot of good experience.
“One of the things that we really like about going to the Yerington Tournament is that it is a big tournament," said LHS coach Brandon Eastman. "They get 32 teams there, they have five courts going at a time, and you are guaranteed six matches in two days. You get to run through a lot of different lineups and try some different players in different spots with different combinations of people on the court. You get a good sense of who works well together, what doesn’t work well, and what we really need to work on.”
The preseason tournament record does not count against their standings in league play.
Lowry opened the regular season Friday night at Spring Creek.
Results of the game were not available at press time.
The Lady Bucks stay in Elko County to play rival Elko on Saturday at noon.
Lowry makes its home debut on Friday, Sept. 7, against Dayton at 6 p.m. The Lady Bucks host South Tahoe on Saturday, Sept. 8, at noon.
“This week our focus was serve-receive because that is the most important part of the game,” Eastman said. “If you can’t pass the ball, it is tough to do anything else. We play this weekend and we need to make sure we are ready to go. We can’t afford a slip up, like not coming out ready to play.”
