The Lowry High School freshman football team started its season on Friday against the Sparks Railroaders.
This contest saw Sparks jump out to a 22-0 lead before the Buckaroos got on the board with their only touchdown of the game. Lowry missed a two-point conversion attempt to make the score 22-6 at halftime.
Sparks continued their scoring ways in the second half, pushing it to the 50-6 final score.
"We battled the whole way, but we were over-matched on some things," said LHS coach Adam Soresnson. "We didn’t give up. We have to learn from this game and build off of it. I know the score didn’t look very good, but we did a lot of good things.”
Lowry travels to Spring Creek on Friday for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
“We knew at the beginning of the year that we were going to have a lack of speed on the team and we need to get through that," Sorenson said. "I told the guys to build off this game, ask what can I do better, what can we fix?”
The next freshman game will be Thursday August 30 at 5 p.m. in Spring Creek.
