Peter R. Riehm, 77, of Winnemucca passed away August 14, 2018 at home in his sleep.
Pete was born on November 22, 1940 in Fargo, North Dakota, to Frances and Dorothy Riehm
He served in the United States Navy and used the GI Bill to attended flight school in Reno, NV. It was there that he met Colleen Sharkey.
They were married February 4, 1970 in Margate, NJ when he was employed at Ocean City, NJ as a flight instructor and airport manager.
He then went to work as a pilot for an Alleghany Commuter in Atlantic City, NJ. They moved to Nome, Alaska in 1975 where he was employed as a Bush Pilot for Munz Northern Airlines.
They left AK in 1985 and moved to Utah where he was a Captain on a DC-9 for Evergreen International Airlines. He retired at the age 60 in 2000 and moved to Winnemucca in 2003.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, his sisters Dorothy Riehm (David) Entin, Mary Riehm (Andreas) Athanasiou, Jane (Steve) Hovden, and Susie (Bruce) Nathan, several nieces and nephew, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many, in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frances and Dorothy Riehm, his Brother Paul Riehm, and his sister and her husband Kathy and Roger Huebner.
There will be a graveside service at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Reno, NV at a later date.
