WINNEMUCCA — Ladies, Labor Day weekend’s for you at the 2018 Tri-County Fair & Stampede.
This year, racers and spectators alike are looking forward to the return of the “Winnemucca 4D Barrel Race,” which will be held in the brand new and beautiful Winnemucca Events Complex Pavilion.
Competition begins Friday, August 31, with time onlys from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Open 4-D racing follows at 5 p.m.
Saturday, September 1, time onlys will run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed at 11 a.m. with an Open 4-D and 18/40. Sunday, September 2, time onlys will run from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Racing will follow at 10 a.m. with an Open 4-D and 18/40.
The event is sanctioned with SIBRA, WPRA, BRN4D and Xtreme Barrel Racing, and produced with 777 Barrel Racing LLC. Racers can expect $12,000 in added money, with $250 added Saturday and Sunday in the 18-40.
Plus, videographer Michael R. Erwine will be catching every run on video for $15 each; videos for daily winners are free!
Entry forms are available online at www.LaborDayFair.com. Pre-entries must be postmarked by Friday, Aug. 24. A late fee will be assessed after the deadline. Entries the day of the race are cash only.
Michelle Hammond, Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority Marketing and Sales Coordinator, said the Tri-County Fair & Stampede is a celebration of this area’s rural roots.
“Barrel racing is such a huge part of our historical past as well our combined future; we thought this event was a great fit for the Tri-County Fair & Stampede,” she said.
