Opening night for Lowry football is Wednesday

As the calendar turns to August, that signals the start of the season for the Lowry High School football team. All three levels (varsity, JV and freshmen) begin practice on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

All football players will need to check in between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to get gear.

Freshmen and juniors will need a physical completed and the proper paperwork turned in on Wednesday. Sophomores and seniors will need to turn in paperwork. All athletes must be registered on registermyathlete.com.

Victory packs are $105 include practice jersey, practice shirt and shorts, game socks and pay to play.

Lowry opens the season in Winnemucca on Friday, Aug. 17, against Pahrump Valley of the Southern 3A. The JV kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m.

The Northern 3A season begins on Friday, Aug. 24, as Lowry hosts Sparks. The freshmen start at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m. There is no JV game against Sparks.

Lowry hits the road to play Spring Creek (Aug. 31) and Fernley (Sept. 7), before coming home to host Truckee on Friday, Sept. 14. The Buckaroos travel to Reno on Friday, Sept. 21, to play North Valleys. The Panthers have dropped down to the Northern 3A in all sports this year.

Lowry takes on South Tahoe on Friday, Sept.. 28, in Winnemucca and travels to Dayton on Friday, Oct. 5. The Buckaroos celebrate Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 12, against Elko. The regular season concludes with a road trip to Fallon on Friday, Oct. 19.
