The Lowry High School swim team was back in action last Saturday to take on Churchill County and South Tahoe.
The Buckaroo boys beat the Greenwave 103-100 and lost 111-96 to the Vikings. A handful of Lowry swimmers set personal-bests in their races.
Against Churchill County, Nathan Perkinson set a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 9.55 seconds to win the race. He was second in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.73.
Aidan Maher won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:33.73, which qualified him for the regional meet and was a personal best for him. In addition, Maher placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:11.34.
Hunter Lewis led the way against Churchill County in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.82 and he was second in thew 200-yard individual medley at 2:37.23. Both times were personal bests for him.
Tristan Miller won the 500- yard freestyle in a time of 6:32.42 and he was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle at 29.58. Teammate Ashton Kalkoske set a personal best and qualified for the regional championships with a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:31.33. Kalkoske was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle at 30.38.
Evan Jeppsen (1:08.74), Kyle Cline (1:10.22) and Emmanuel Guillon (1:13.44) were second, fifth and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle. Cline’s and Guillon’s times were personal bests. Cline finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:39.72 and Jeppsen was fourth at 2:44.94. Eli Cunningham set a personal best in the 50-yard freestyle at 53.06.
The 400-yard freestyle of Lewis, Jeppsen, Miller and Perkinson were first with a time of 4:26.35. The same foursome were second in the 200-yard medley relay at 2:02.89 and the 200-yard relay of Kalkoske, Cunningham, Cline and Guillon were second at 2:24.34.
In the dual against South Tahoe, Lewis’ times on the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke were good enough to win as well.
Perkinson’s time in the 100-yard breaststroke, won him that race against the Vikings. Miller’s finishing time on the day, also won him the 500-yard freestyle.
The 200-yard medley relay of Lewis, Perkinson, Miller and Jeppsen had a time good enough to beat South by less than a second.
Lowry girls drop
two duals
The Lowry girls lost its duals to South Tahoe 128-77 and Churchill County 97-88.
Halle Sullivan set two personal best times on the day. She was first in the South Tahoe dual and second against Churchill County in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:40.46. She was second in the 100-yard freestyle against the Greenwave and third versus the Vikings at 1:14.57. Her time in the 100 qualified her for the regional meet.
Bree LeBrun set a personal best in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:17.65 and she was first in the Churchill County dual. She placed second against South Tahoe. LeBrun was second and third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.42.
Tara Higley was first in the 500-yard freestyle against South Tahoe with a personal-best time of 8:22.19 and she was second against Churchill County. Casalyn Perkinson was first against Churchill County in the 100-yard butterfly with a personal best of 1:29.67 and third versus South Tahoe. Perkinson was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 33.76.
Ale Ibarra was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 1:20.22 and Mikayla Wright was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal best of 1:30.73.
Melissa Ramirez (36.96) and Breanna Barber (35.66) set personal-best times in the 50-yard freestyle.
Lowry is back in action on Saturday in Truckee at 4 p.m.
